Trio Win ACFC Player of the Week Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Wesley sophomore quarterback Shane McSweeny, junior defensive end Gabe Tranchetti and sophomore placekicker Collin Blugis all earned Atlantic Central Football Conference Player of the Week honors after a 38-6 win over Frostburg State.
McSweeny was named the ACFC Offensive Player of the Week after completing 14-of-17 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns in just his second career start. The sophomore from Bensalem, Pennsylvania directed an offense that racked up 519 total yards, did not throw an interception and was not sacked in the contest.
Tranchetti made eight total tackles to win ACFC Defensive Player of the Week accolades. The Egg Harbor, New Jersey native had five solo tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and a sack to lead a defensive unit that limited the Bobcats to just 167 total yards and 40 yards rushing.
Blugis had a solid day in the kicking game to earn the ACFC's Special Teams Player of the Week award. He made all five of his extra points the the product of Odenton, Maryland also connected on his only field goal attempt of the afternoon from 30 yards.
The conference's Rookie of the Week award went to Randal Smedley of Salisbury.
Wesley College, 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the ACFC, head to Division I FCS foe Iona on Saturday.
